Quality Assurance

The term quality assurance is about a systematic, structured and continuous commitment to quality. It is a set of processes and procedures that, in a systematic and structured way, aim at maintaining and continuously improving quality, while promoting the belief that it is possible to meet all the requirements and expectations of the stakeholders in terms of quality. It requires the existence of an internal system of principles, criteria and regulations, the proper functioning of which is certified by periodic internal and external evaluation procedures. These procedures must be made public.

A central objective of Greek Higher Education since 2005 (Law 3374/2005) is to ensure and improve the quality of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and the offered programmes of study and qualifications. The purpose of this objective is to satisfy the needs of society and the expectations of the HEI as best as possible. Since 2011 (Law 4009/2011), in the context of the aforementioned objectives, accreditation has been established both at the level of the Institution and at the level of the study programmes.
