The quality of research in the Department of Economics is reflected in the amount of leading journals that publish our work, the competence of existing and recently hired academic staff, the recruit of talented Ph.D. and Post-Doc students, and the resources and activities devoted to research.

The Department hosts the Department Seminar Series, where domestic and internationally renown researchers present and discuss their current work.
- Working Paper Series
Our Economics Working Paper Series disseminates economic research relevant to the current research topics of the members of our Department as well as research of guest researchers, who present in our Department’s Seminars. The Working Papers constitute “work in progress”. They are published to stimulate discussion and contribute to the advancement of our knowledge of economic matters.
- SPOUDAI-Journal of Economics and Business
The Department of Economics is also home of the peer-reviewed research outlet SPOUDAI-Journal of Economics and Business, which fosters both theoretical and quantitative contributions to Economics and Business. SPOUDAI is the only greek scientific journal awarded by the Athens Academy that publishes rigorous analytical papers, theoretical and empirical that deal with contemporary economic and business issues.

There is a range of databases available to students and academic staff managed by the Library of University of Piraeus. For remote access to Universities facilities, one can use VPN software.
- Ph.D. and Post-Doc Studies
The Department purports to attract talented and devoted Ph.D. and Post-Doc students. Together with the academic staff, they join forces to produce high quality research outcomes.
