THE COMMITTEE
6 June 2026 2026-06-06 12:49THE COMMITTEE
Equality is not merely an institutional obligation, but a fundamental value and a driving force for evolution in every modern University.
In accordance with the provisions of current legislation (Law 4589/2019, Article 33, Government Gazette 13/Issue A/29-1-2019) and by decision of the Senate, an unpaid Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee (GEADC) is established and constituted in every Higher Education Institution in Greece.
The GEADC consists of nine (9) members, as follows:
Six (6) faculty members (Dep. of Academic Staff / D.E.P.),
One (1) member of Special Education Staff (E.E.P.), Laboratory Teaching Staff (E.DI.P.), or Special Technical Laboratory Staff (E.T.E.P.),
One (1) administrative employee, and
One (1) student.
The members serve a three-year term and are appointed following a call for expressions of interest issued by the Rector; applications are then evaluated by the Senate. During the selection process, the Senate takes into consideration the candidates’ contribution to fields related to equality, combating discrimination, and social exclusion. The GEADC acts as an advisory body to the Senate and the Administrations of Schools and Departments, aiming to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination at all operational levels and across every aspect of academic life.
