Eleni Kyrkopoulou is an Assistant Professor of Applied Microeconomics at the Department of Economics, University of Piraeus, since 2025. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Identity & Conflict Lab (iCL) at Yale University and a Research Associate at the Hellenic Observatory at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Before joining the University of Piraeus, she conducted research as a Research Affiliate at Yale University, at the iCL lab (2023–2025), and as an Independent Contractor at Harvard University (Harvard Business School, 2019–2023). She also carried out Postdoctoral Research at the Department of Economics, University of Piraeus (2022–2025), and at the Department of Economics, Athens University of Economics and Business (2019–2022). Previously, she worked as an Economic Analyst at the Research Department of the National Bank of Greece.

She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (2018), an M.Sc. in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business (2012), an M.Sc. in Financial Economics from Cardiff University (2011), and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Piraeus (2007).

Her research interests lie in the fields of Applied Microeconomics, Experimental Economics, and Political Economy. More specifically, her current research focuses on the Economics of Education, the Economics of Migration, the Economics of Identity, and Labor Economics, among other topics.

Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including ILR Review, Journal of Politics, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Policy Modeling, and Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies, among others, while parts of her work have been funded by the Bank of Greece, the Athens University of Economics and Business, as well as European sources (European Research Grants – Horizon).
