University of Piraeus Hosts the 2nd DigHealth Project Meeting and Training on Digital Health and Telemedicine
Piraeus, Greece – September 29th to October 3rd, 2025
The University of Piraeus will host the 2nd Project Meeting of the DigHealth initiative – “Micro-credentials in Digital Health for Ethiopia and Somalia” from September 29th to October 3rd, 2025, in collaboration with RIT Croatia and partner universities from Ethiopia and Somalia. The event marks a crucial milestone in strengthening digital health capacities and advancing telemedicine education in Africa.
Strengthening Digital Health Education in Africa
The DigHealth project, co-funded by the European Union, aims to design and implement micro-credential programmes in digital health to improve healthcare training and access in Ethiopia and Somalia. The University of Piraeus, a key partner, will host participants from Europe and Africa for a week of project management sessions, hands-on training, and hospital visits.

Project Meeting (September 29–30, 2025)
The two-day coordination meeting will bring together representatives from all partner institutions to review project progress and plan the next implementation phase.

Training Programme (October 1–3, 2025)
The training segment will focus on Telemedicine Foundations, Hospital Digital Transformation, and Data Privacy & Security in eHealth.

Demonstrations from the Computational Biomedicine Lab (CBML)

Presentations on AI applications in chronic disease management and forensic systems

Hospital visits to observe telemedicine systems in practice

Workshops on EU regulatory frameworks including GDPR, NIS2, and the AI Act

A cultural visit to the Ancient Temple of Poseidon showcasing Greece’s heritage
Building Sustainable Digital Health Capacity
The Piraeus meeting will conclude with strategic discussions on integrating digital health micro-credentials into higher education curricula and sustaining project outcomes beyond the funding period. The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of European and African institutions to modernize healthcare education and delivery through digital innovation.
Next Steps
Following the Greece’s training, partners will reconvene at RIT Croatia in Zagreb (October 6–10, 2025) for advanced sessions on telemedicine monitoring and teleconsultation skills.
