Homage to Betty
Dear Friends,
Following the tragic loss of our dear friend Betty, for which I have no words to express my sorrow, I have collected the messages of her friends, participants and lecturers in the EURO Summer Institute on Environmental Planning (Lagonissi, Greece, June 7-21, 1996), sent on this so unfortunate occasion for Betty, participant in this school. It is there where we all met Betty and we were charmed by her sweetness, friendliness and noble personality. We will never forget her.

Last Friday, October 11, our beloved friend and colleague Elisabetta Avogadro has been killed by a truck while she was going out of the highway leading to Genoa. Elisabetta was only 26 years old, and she got married just one month ago. She was the youngest of our research group, and her human and scientific qualities made her beloved to all who knew her.

I would like to express my feelings but you know how difficult it is now. I have many memories from our friend Betty. I will always keep in my mind what she had said when she left for her country, "it was the most beautiful vacations that I had done in my life". These words make me feel so happy when she said but now make me feel so sad.

want to say a few words for our dear friend Betty.... Words are not going to change anything but may refresh the memory of the good things, may help you to keep concentrating on the good persons. Enjoy the most time you can with your friends. Like Betty.
I keep in mind us playing volleiball in the beach, and Betty screaming "Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyy" in her beautiful english accent whenever she lost a ball....
How I miss her already! And you know what makes this so special and at the same time so sad like Stavros said?
It's because we had a great time toguether, we had very happy moments!
That is sad because we can not repeat it anymore.
That is special because it will always be alive in our minds...AS BETTY IS.
