The Student Association “PLATON”, University of Piraeus, was founded in 1978 and constitutes the only student union of our University. It is a member of EFEE (the National Student Union) and is typically administered in accordance with the regulations of its statutes, as approved by the Court of the First Instance, Piraeus. The Union’s instrumentalities are:

• the General Assembly
• the Board of Directors and
• the Examining Committee.

The General Assembly
The General Assembly is the Union’s supreme instrumentality. All students participate in it. It resolves on any topic which is not subject to the competency of another instrumentality and, additionally, supervises the other instrumentalities of the Union.

The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of 11 members. It is elected every year by a general vote held on dates fixed by the EFEE, at the same time with the other unions of the country. All students of our University can participate in the vote. The chairs of the Board of Directors are taken by representatives of the student parties, according to the number of votes which they will collect during the student elections. The goal of the Board of Directors is to promote and solve the problems troubling students and the University, in general.

The Examining Committee
The Examining Committee consists of representatives from the movements. It convenes once per year, shortly before the student elections and approves the financial statements submitted by the Board of Directors for the previous year.
