Content of strategic planning and strategic decision. Mission goals, orientation of strategy and strategic planning procedure framework. Analysis of interior environment, alternative strategies and methodology of strategic. Organisation of strategic planning for the determination of policy, distribution and assessment of effectiveness. Case study.

DERIVATIVE PRODUCTS AND TECHNIQUES OF RISK MANAGEMENT

This course covers:

The forms of options, their characteristics and the markets on which they are traded. Special emphasis is given to their valuation models (e.g. Black-Scholes) and their practical application in the financial activities of the enterprise and the investment choice of the investors.

The forms of futures, their characteristics and their respective markets. Special emphasis is given to futures on credit securities, foreign exchange and stock exchange indices.

The forms and methods of risk offsetting using futures, options and swaps.

FINANCIAL POLICY AND STRATEGY

Development of financial decisions, policies and strategies planning and application. Special emphasis is given to the restrictions posed by the institutional framework on the financial activities of the enterprise. This subject is taught in the form of case studies and covers the material of many courses in Banking and Financial Management and other areas such as Marketing, Business Economics and Business Organisation.

PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT (OPTIONAL)

This subject covers the pertinent theories and empirical conclusions concerning the composition, management and assessment of portfolios of shares and other commercial papers. Special emphasis is given to the techniques fro measuring performance, the model of Capital Asset pricing, its extension and the Arbitrage Pricing Model. In the subject, students are using microcomputers for problem solving.

Presentation of the elements of current assets and the sources of short-term liabilities and examination of their importance to the financial operation of the enterprise. Presentation of the methods and techniques for the optimum management of the firm’ s working capital. Analysis of the method for making financial plans and forecasting the level of the working capital.

This subject covers special topics in Finance that are not included in the curriculum of the basic financial subjects. Because of their nature, these topics may differ from year to year. This subject is offered to a limited number of students, the selection of whom is based on criteria procedures determined by the General Assembly of the Department. Apart from studing the pertinent literature, students produce a term paper.
