The “SPOUDAI” publishes articles the context of which falls into the subject of Economics, Business Administration, Statistics and Operational Research and is indexed and abstracted in the electronic bibliographies of the American Economic Association. Each article is required to be original work of a higher level of analysis and of an independently theoretical or empirical research of the author which has not been published previously or is not currently being considered for publication else-where (confirmed by a letter). The following procedure and conditions for the article’s submission should be taken into consideration:

  1. Each article is submitted in three copies with a left margin of 3 cm. Type on only one side of an A4 paper. The number of pages should not exceed 25. The articles must be written either in Greek or in English and contain an abstract (written in English) not exceeding 120 words.
  2. Authors should submit an electronic copy of their paper with the final version of the manuscript. The electronic copy should match the hardcopy exactly and be compatible with WORD 97 or later.
  3. The title of the article, the name and surname of the author / authors and the institution should be clearly indicated and appear along with the corpus of it (only in one copy). In the other two copies of the article only the title of the article should appear. In the corpus of the article (at the botton of the first page), the code of classification of the submitted article should appear according to the classification of JEL (which appears in Vol. 42, No 3-4, Jul.-Dec. 1992).
  4. Acknowledgments or references of the original source of the article should be denoted by an asterisk at the bottom of the first page (only in the copy in which the author’s full name appears according to the classification of JEL).
  5. The name, surname, full address, the Institution (School, Research Center, etc.) in which the auhor works, his telephone number and any relevant information should be included in a separate page which will accompany the article.
  6. Tables should be written clearly, with a title (heading) and numbering, the shape and size of which should not overpass that of a page and should appear in the form of appendices, before footnotes.
  7. Graphs (figures and illustrations) should be drawn (illustrated) in indian ink on a special transparent paper numbered consequently.
  8. Paragraphs must be numbered by arabic numbers (starting from introduction) e.g. 1, 1.1., 1.1.2., 2.1., 2.1.1.
  9. Each article should be accompanied by the bibliography directly relevant to the subject of the article. Footnotes should be consecutively numbered, appearing at the end of the article, before bibliography.
  10. The important formulae should have a consecutive numbering on the right hand side of the page, such as (1), (2) and so on.
  11. Quotations cited in the main text refer to the surname of the author, year of the publication and page numbers, such as: (Mundell R., 1968, page: 28). Bibliographical references on the last page of the article should be written in alphabetical order, as follows: For books: e.g. Mundell R. (1968), International Economics, The Macmillan Co. For articles: Fleming J.M. (1962), “Domestic Financial Policies Under Flexible Exchange Rates”, International Monetary Fund, Staff Papers.
  12. Failure to comply with the above terms will result in the rejection of the articles or their return in order to be corrected or reformed.
  13. Each article’s submission implies a payment of 70 Euros for various expenses, independently of its acceptance for publication or not, payable to the: Research Center of the University of Piraeus, 130, Ipsilandou Str., Piraeus, 185 34, Greece (Tel. 210 4142622, Fax: 210 4142629).   14. Those of the submitted articles that fulfil the above conditions are forwarded to unknown referees for judjement, otherwise they are rejected by the Editor.
  15. The editorial board has no obligation to publish the submitted articles and the manuscripts which have not been published are not returned. The author is informed about the acceptance or not of his/her article or about the acceptance with obligation to respond to corrections and proposals of the referee and the editorial board. The author also corrects the proofs which are send to him without adding, changing or repaging the text. Failure to a timely return of the proofs implies that the article will not be included in the current issue.
