The Department of Economics has a fixed goal of providing high standard education in Economics.
The syllabus of a 4-year undergraduate programme consists of a variety of courses and aims at fulfilling the twofold objective of fostering the theoretical and empirical knowledge necessary to understand the complex economic phenomena of modern times. Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, and Financial Economics are only a few of the areas that are treated and taught in depth.
Our graduates enjoy an excellent reputation and are well appreciated by both the private and public sectors.
Faculty members are active in research, publishing in high quality journals. The Department has a well-established, graduate programme leading to two Master's degrees, in Economic and Business Strategy and in Health Economics.
The journal “SPOUDAI” is an EconLit listed journal featuring a broad advisory committee and a diversified group of referees. It is edited by the University of Piraeus and managed by the Department of Economics.
