 Professor Kostas Giziakis

He has graduated from the Department of Business Administration of the Economic University of Athens (1972) and from the Department of Economics of the University of Athens (1975). He has a Masters of Arts (MA) in Business Administration from Kent University – United Kingdom (1978), and a Ph.D. from Guildhall University, London – U.K. His scientific expertise is in maritime economics, environmental economics, maritime safety economics, marine accidents, chartering, freight forecasting, risk analysis of maritime accidents. He is an associate professor at the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus since 1992. He has been employed at the “Eastmed” maritime company based in London (1975-79), Hewlett Packard (1983-84), as an advisor at the Ministry of National Economy (1984-85), National Bank of Greece at the Research & Development Department (1985-87), as a Financial Manager at the “N.M.S.” maritime company (1987-92), as a General Manager and Managing Director at the “Nereus Maritime Company” (1990-92). He is President of the Board of Directors of the Seamen’s Pension Fund since 1997.

Dr. Athanassios Karlis

Mr. Thanassis Karlis is currently preparing a Ph.D thesis at the University of Piraeus concerning the relationship between the age of vessels and freight rates. He is currently employed at the University of Piraeus Careers office and has experience as a competitive dry cargo broker. He holds a Masters degree from the University of Wales College of Cardiff and a diploma in tanker chartering from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers of London. His research interests focus on maritime policy, chartering and maritime market competition.

Dr. Dimitrios Kokotos

 

Dr. Ernestini Bardi - Giziaki

Dr. Ernestini Bardi-Giziaki is employed as a research fellow at the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus and is also the head of the Careers office of the University of Piraeus. She has studied Business Administration at the Economic University of Athens and Economics at the Department of Economics of the University of Athens. She has been awarded postgraduate degrees on Social – economic Statistics and Quantitative Social Sciences (Master of Arts) from Kent University U.K. and a Ph.D in Statistics from Guildhall University – London (1987). She has worked as a lecturer in UK and Greek Universities and she has also been employed at the private sector. Her scientific interests in the maritime fields include the analysis of marine accidents and forecasting. She has presented various papers in conferences and has published extensively in scientific journals.
